Donations of Comfort

Recently, members of the Allen/Fields Life Group from Lake Pointe Church in Rockwall made a special visit to the T. Boone Pickens Hospice Center (TBPHC) to drop off items collected by their church class, especially for the Comfort Cart. The much-appreciated donations included cases of bottled water and a variety of candy, gum, fruit snacks, cookies, tissues, juice boxes, puzzle books and coloring books.

Church and class member, Belinda Dennis coordinated the donation effort and shared, “One of our class members suggested we donate to Faith Presbyterian Hospice (FPH). She volunteered there and told us about the care provided to families as they say goodbye to their loved ones. As a class, we felt God was directing us to support your ministry. Providing items for the cart was a small service that we hope makes your jobs easier and blesses the families you serve.”

The Comfort Cart is part of the volunteer program at FPH, where participants push a custom-made cart to each patient’s room to offer supplies and goodies free of charge, meant for entertainment, comfort and enjoyment while in TBPHC. The cart, a valuable resource utilized at least twice week, was constructed and initially filled by a local Eagle Scout, Brooks Loukas. Read about the Comfort Cart’s origin, here.

After the initial donation drop off, the group stayed to enjoy a tour of the serene TBPHC campus.
